2026 BEE SCHOOL

Beginner Bee School will start you on the path to becoming a beekeeper. You will learn bee biology, beekeeping equipment, beehive management, and so much more.

 

Cost of the class is $70 for individuals, $100 for couples; additional family members living at the same address $30 each. Children through high school attend free with parent or guardian. Class size is limited to 50. Included in the cost are: course outline, textbook (one textbook for couples and families), instruction, first year memberships in North Carolina State Beekeepers Association (NCSBA) and Catawba Valley Beekeeper Association (CVBA).

 

All classes are held at the Catawba County Extension Office, 1175 South Brady Avenue, Newton, NC.

 

To pre-register click on the "Register for Bee School" button below or you can register during one of our monthly meetings.

 

It is important to pre-register so sufficient textbooks and class materials are available. To complete registration, make payment, pickup class materials and meet fellow beekeepers, attend our regular monthly club meeting of CVBA, Monday, January 19th. Our monthly meetings start at 7pm. Please come at 6pm so we can complete your registration before the meeting starts.

 

First Bee School class begins at 7pm, Monday, February 2nd. Classes will continue February 9th, February 16th (monthly bee club meeting), February 23rd, March 2nd, March 9th, March 16th (monthly bee club meeting), March 23rd, March 30th and April 6th. April 6th class will be a review and the option to take a written test to begin your path to becoming a Certified Beekeeper.

For the first bee school class please come at 6pm to complete your registration if you didn't complete your registration during our monthly club meeting.

CVBA monthly meetings are held the third Monday  of each month except December.
