Monthly Club Meeting

Monday, May 18, 7:00pm

We are honored to have Dr. David Tarpy share his vast honey bee queen knowledge with the club. As a beekeeper, managing your queens is an important part of beekeeping.

Dr. Tarpy is a Professor of Applied Ecology and the Extension Apiculturist at NC State University. His research interests focus on the biology and behavior of honey bee queens—using techniques including field manipulations, behavioral observation, instrumental insemination, and molecular genetics—in order to better improve the overall health of queens and their colonies.

He is known both nationally and internationally for his knowledge and research on honey bee queens.

Dr. Tarpy will talk to the club by way of a live Zoom meeting. Due to his busy schedule, Dr. Tarpy is not able to travel to Catawba County.
